How to give your hair an instant revamp
Have you ever got really, really tired of the way you look? It’s perfectly normal if you have – we have to look at the same face, the same outfits, the same hairstyles every single day in the mirror, and that’s pretty boring. One of the easiest ways to switch things up a bit is to give your hair a revamp. It doesn’t have to be much; the smallest alterations can make the biggest differences. And you’ll probably end up liking what you see so much that you plan to keep it around for ever… or, that is, until it’s time for another change.
If you’re looking for simple ways to switch up your usual hairdo, take a look at the ideas below:
1. Consider the chop
We all have different relationships with our hair. While some people are happy to go for regular trims, but don’t really change up their style, others won’t let anyone with a pair of scissors come near them until at least a few years of natural growth. Others still are happy to have their hair chopped and snipped whenever they feel like it, until they have so little hair left that there’s no choice but to grow it.
Whatever category you fall into – unless it’s the last one – it may be time to embrace change. Whether you decide to have a fringe put in, or some side layers, or you just want your hair cut to a different length, there are plenty of ways to revamp your hair with only the smallest bit of snipping required.
It’s pretty daunting to put your trust in a hairdresser to cut your hair, but know that they have the best qualifications and experience for the job. Also, and here’s the important thing: they will listen to you. If you don’t want a lot of hair cut off, just say so. Your hairdresser will only be too happy to comply.
2. Dye it a different shade
We get it – hair dye can be intimidating even when you’re just considering going a shade darker. But sometimes you just have to take the feel the fear and do it anyway attitude and ask yourself, What’s the worst that could happen? Providing you pick a colour that’s suitable for your complexion, you’ll most likely end up loving the results. And if not, you can just dye it back again – no biggie.
If you’re concerned about dying your hair yourself, don’t put yourself through the unnecessary stress of worrying whether you’re doing the right thing and staying safe. Visit a trusted hair salon and have a professional carry out the job for you instead. With a hairdresser, you get the added bonus of their years of experience, and they’ll be able to help you choose the right colour, as well as give you the safest and kindest hair dying experience there is.
3. Style it differently
Our natural hair tends to fall as one style, and one style only, which can get fairly tiresome when you’ve seen it so often on yourself. If you want to instantly change the way you look, consider switching up your natural style for something a bit different. Simply plaiting your hair overnight and wearing loose curls the next morning will change your entire face shape and give you a completely different appearance.
If you want to be a bit more adventurous with your hair styling, there are plenty of tools out there to create some pretty impressive looks in just minutes. If your hair is naturally curly, consider straightening it. If it’s naturally straight, why not experiment with a curling iron? You could also think about how you usually wear your hair – loose over your shoulders, in a high bobble or bun, braided – and try wearing it differently every now and again. You’ll probably get loads of compliments just for rocking a look that no-one’s really seen on you before.
