Easy wedding hair inspiration: our top picks

It’s summer, which means only one thing: wedding season is well and truly upon us. Whether you’re the one getting married, or you’re attending a wedding at a guest, it can be difficult to know what to do with your hair. Keeping is in its usual style or a style you regularly show off would be… boring, but if you’re styling your own hair for the day, you won’t particularly want to be faffing around with anything too complex, either. If you’ve got a wedding coming up and you still don’t have a clue how to style your hair, don’t fear: we’ve got you back with our top three picks of wedding hairstyles for you to try out on the big day.

1.       The boho loose braid- see left image

To master the boho loose braid, simply part your hair down the middle, and take a substantial piece of hair from the left side of your head, plaiting backwards and adding more hair as you go in a diagonal direction along the back of your head. Secure with a clear band and then repeat the process with a piece of hair from the right side of your head. Once you reach the point where the left and right braid meet, pull your right braid through one of the strands of the left, so that they are interwoven together. Then continue the braid as normal to the bottom. This should create a halo effect around the back of your head. Give your ‘do a generous spraying of hairspray, and voila- you’re done.

2.       The elegant chignon bun- see middle image

Start by splitting your hair into two and twist both pieces from each side towards the centre. Where the pieces meet in the middle, secure them with a hair tie, then take the loose hair and loop it back over the bobble, pushing through and back out of the bottom. Repeat this process, looping the hair over the bobble and back out through the bottom, until there is no more hair to lose. You should be left with a bun-type style. Secure with hair pins and give it a spray of hairspray, and you’re set to go.

3.       The Dutch fishtail side braid- see right image

This braid is a lot more difficult than it looks! Begin by taking a section of hair towards the bottom of your right ear. Split it into three and cross the left under the middle and then the right under the left. Add in hair from each side as you continue to braid. The braid should be angled down along your hairline. Carry on until you reach the left side of your neck and secure it with a clip or hair tie while you do the front braid. For this braid, take your hair from the very front left of your head, and plait backwards, taking hair in along the way, until you reach the back braid. Combine the two braid together by taking a section from each braid and crossing it over into the other braid. Once they’re joined, you can either finish the braid off as a normal plait, or fishtail it by crossing pieces of hair from the outside of one section to the inside of the other. Secure the finished braid with a clear band, spritz with hairspray, and you’re done.
